Mitch has passed a fitness test and will play the Ashes series finale on his home turf at the SCG, after missing the fourth Test because of a bruised heel.
He is looking forward to playing in front of his home crowd. Skipper Steve Smith said Mitch was ready to play.
“He’s ready to go. The break he’s had from bowling has helped his heel heal. It’s coming along nicely so hopefully he gets through,” said Smith.
The SCG match will be Mitch’s 40th Test and he will be looking to add to his Series tally of 19 scalps against the English, on a grassy pitch that may favour the fast bowlers.
